BC Universe Heroes: Dragonborn by Branded-Curse

No. 1: Every single member of the Dragona Tribe has the last name "Dragona".

When you read that, you probably think: Welcome to Inbredshire :P
However, nothing could be further from the truth.
The original Dragonas, way back before even Lyn Dragona's time, were an amazon tribe, wo aligned themselves with Lyn's ancestor Lucia Dragona ( not to be confused with Lucyna Dragona ). They all took the last name Dragona when they made Lucia their queen and thus part of the family. Following this, every child born from one of them was a "True Dragona". But also others, who settled down on their land and were accepted into their "family" earned the last name Dragona by doing so. The name Dragona is a birthright for "True Dragonas" and can be earned by others, too. However, True Dragona or not, you can lose the right to the Dragona name. It may come as punishment for treason, if someone is exiled. Only the queen of the tribe can impose this sentence and it is considered an act of dishonoring, maybe even worse than death. In fact, it is so severe, it has only been imposed ONCE in the entire history of the Dragona legend.

No. 2: Some colors and clothes and the way of wearing them, have deep societal meaning.

Normal clothes, made from animal skins and fabrics, usually in beige or creme colored, have no implications. Armor, however, is another thing.
Gray is the "color of the sword" and thus often worn by warriors.
Green is the "color of the common dragon" and a prefered color to wear by all Dragonas.
Light blue is the "color of the sky" and is associated with happiness, thus often worn at festivals.
Dark blue is the "color of the night sky/storm" and usually indicates martial intentions.
( it depends on how it is worn, though - see "Capes" below on this list )
Red is the "color of blood", which stands either for loyalty or purification.
( again, depending on how to wear it )
White is the "color of the Divine Bahath" and thus mostly only worn by royals and/or ambassadors of the Dragona Tribe. However, everybody on an important mission is expected to wear something white, even if mostly only a badge. It is also a color worn at important ceremonies, like weddings, funerals and peace conferences ( by males and females alike ).
Black is the "color of Tiamat" and no Dragona in their right mind would ever wear black clothes. Wearing black boots is a privilege for great warriors, who have risen above and "stomped on the black breed". Wearing red clothes with black in it, means that person has lost their way and is currently redeeming themselves for a crime or a severe act of dishonorableness.

Capes

Dragonas sometimes wear capes and they do so in one of two ways:
1. Wrapped around the hips.
2. Wide around the shoulders.
These two ways of wearing a cape can have a deeper meaning.
If the Dragona in question chooses a dark blue cape, wearing it around their hips means they are protecting something. It is considered "the way of the guardians".
Wearing a cape open around their shoulders, is "the way of the conquerors" and indicates martial intentions. Especially if the cape is dark blue or red.
Wearing a cape this way inside a sanctuary is considered highly offensive and thus forbidden.
Wearing a black cape is completely forbidden. Because it stands for Tiamat's will.
Nobody, wearing a black cape or cloak, is welcome on Dragona land. They have to take it off before entering.

No. 3: Most warriors are women.

What were the chances, with an amazon tribe? :D However, while men mostly work as smiths, scholars, merchants and farmers there, they are not forbidden to fight. The Dragona Tribe had some mighty male warriors and dragon riders in its history, it's just that the True Dragonas, those with the amazonian roots, have fighting in their genes and the birthrate of girls is way higher than boys.

No. 4: Not all dragons are worshipped.

The guardian of the Dragona Tribe is of course the Divine Dragon Bahath. Technically, he is the only dragon, who is worshipped like a god ( which he pretty much is ). Other dragons are considered "reptilian brothers and sisters" to the Dragonas and their allies in battle. Kaiser Dragons are even treated as royals.
However, black dragons are not liked, not even welcome on their land by the Dragonas.
Black is the color of Tiamat and thus all dragons with pitch-black scales are considered "Tiamat's brood" and enemies of the tribe.
In the history of the Dragona legend, there has only been ONE exception, being the legendary shadow dragon Wrath, the partner of dragon rider Ryukage, Lyn Dragona's godson.

No. 5: The Mighty don't kneel.

A Dragona warrior will only kneel before someone, they are willing to serve.
Usually that means their queen, the elder and definitely the Divine Bahath.
Telling a Dragona to kneel is considered and insult. A Dragona warrior might kneel as a sign of respect to another royal or warrior, they consider worthy ( in that case they will go to one knee, cross their arms in front of their chest and bow their heads in respect ).
This can never be demanded or suggested, the Dragona needs to do it on their own will.
With Lyn Dragona, aka: Dragonborn, now playing a bigger role in my works and maybe soon in the :icondeviantuniverse: too, I thought it was a good idea to write down five important things about her and her people in general.
This might be useful to some of you in the future - AND probably explains a couple of seemingly random things, that happened so far.

If you have further questions, just shoot! :-)

This was a really interesting read - I think Krysta is a really interesting setting - love the detail in the backstory. Will Dragonborn be changing her colour scheme to reflect her new status, or is she rejecting all things Krysta as she finds a place for herself on Earth?
